Before you start
What is the TCF IRN?
It is the French test required for the multi-year residence permit, the resident card and naturalisation. It has 4 tests: listening, reading, writing and speaking, 1 h 35 min in total.
What level do I need?
A2 for the multi-year residence permit, B1 for the resident card, B2 for naturalisation since 1 January 2026.
Is this the official test?
No. Parcours Civique is an independent training tool, not affiliated with France Éducation international. You take the official test at an approved centre.
How does the writing correction work?
You write your text in the app. An artificial intelligence corrects it in under a minute: estimated level, mistakes explained, improved version. This is practice: your score on test day may be different.
How does the speaking analysis work?
You record yourself in the app, then ask for an analysis. Your answer is written down as text, then an artificial intelligence analyses it in about ten seconds: estimated level, mistakes corrected, improved version and a challenge for next time. Pronunciation is not assessed. This is practice: your score on test day may be different.
How long does it take to prepare?
It depends on your starting level and the level you need. The app’s level test shows where you are, then tells you how many exercises to do each day until your test date.
I am already preparing for the civic exam with you. Do I keep my access?
Yes. The TCF is added to your civic exam access, and you find both in the same app. If you are starting now, the French civic exam + TCF pack costs less.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once, for 1, 3 or 6 months. There is no automatic renewal.
